Doesn’t it seem like each year the holiday season passes by in a flash?!? Well this year, I decided to get started early on all the seasonal fun, in order to make sure we don’t miss anything on our Christmas bucketlist, so to speak. And one of the first things I wanted to do was a host a holiday movie night for my kids and their neighborhood friends.
As a parent of two young children, gone are the days (or should I say nights) out on the town until two in the morning, dancing and drinking with friends. These have been replaced with family movie nights, playing card games and earlier bedtimes, as we all know kids don’t grasp sleeping in the morning after mom and dad have had a night out.
One of my favorite memories as a child was from Easter: My mom and neighbor decided to organize and host a morning full of Easter activities. It included an egg hunt, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and was topped off with a full on parade. All the neighborhood kids marched down the streets around our house while donning their Easter best (complete with homemade bonnets and batons) alongside a wagon blasting music. Despite this being over 20 years ago now, it still brings a smile to my face thinking about all the fun we had.
I don’t know about you, but I have a number of friends who are having babies or are pregnant. So, ’tis the season for baby showers! In my time, I have attended a number of baby celebrations. I have witnessed the opening of many parcels and played an abundance of activities involving diapers. At my friend’s Oh-So-Sweet Cherry Baby Shower last year, I wanted to switch things up a bit, so we went with a few new games I had not seen done before. They were fun and received a great response, so I’m passing them along in hopes that you too can be inspired.
In the last year, my daughter and I started going to “Mom and Me Ballet” classes. It was evident from her first couple of sessions that she loved the music and movement. Thereafter, she could often be found twirling or singing around the house. So it was a no brainer when I decided to throw a dance party to celebrate her turning three.
When I host a kids party, I always like to try one new recipe and add it to the dessert table. Inspired by a post I saw on Instagram, for my daugther’s party I thought I would test out sprinkled Rice Krispie treats shaped like donuts. Most know, I am a fan of Rice Krispie treats because they are fast and easy to make and they are always a hit with the children. But this new variation takes it to a whole new level and were a hit among party goers, so I thought it was a must share.
