Styled Boho Girls Room

When we moved into our Vancouver duplex, one room was already painted a pale pink. It was a no brainer to put my daugther in this room. Hands down it is the nicest and biggest room in the house. She has been my flower girl since birth…very creative, free and happy, so I decided a boho theme would be right up her alley and also be on trend. She had aged out of her tutti fruitti themed bedroom, which I also loved and you can find here.

For the main color palette, I went with a pale pink and mustard yellow. I then found the accessories and the wall hangings in a number of different stores, like Michaels, Homesense (like Home Goods in the USA). The bedding I found at a wonderful modern furniture called Structube.

As for the furniture, I kept her bed, which was bought from Wayfair when she moved from a toddler bed. While I would love to switch it out to match the boho style, that wasn’t really in the budget. And how cute is the chair I found on Facebook Marketplace? When I decorate a room or a home, I am religious with looking at Marketplace and Craigslist for pieces that match the theme and are a good value. This one was a steal at $100!

As my daughter gets older, she was definitely in a need for desk. The desk I found was really reasonable at Canadian Tire. Similar ones I have seen at Target as well. The chair was also a great find at Ikea. Now she has a space to create and eventually finish her homework on.

I have done family gallery wall (see post here) before, and love using the simple shelves from Ikea. This time instead of mostly an arrangement of different frames, prints and photographs, I added some accessories that I collected over time. I also created a print, “You Grow Girl” that is available to purchase (either download or have a print shipped) in my Etsy shop, This Sweet Happy Store.

As you can see from her smile, my daughter was thrilled with her new decor. She says it definitely makes her feel older. Now I hope she doesn’t want to change it anytime soon or take over the decorating as she approaches the preteen years.
