It was a late August afternoon when I had the pleasure of hosting a baby shower. One of my friends was expecting her first, so it only made sense to get our group of friends together to celebrate. While everyone brought a dish to the potluck barbecue, I was keen to add a little flair with a fun theme, decor and dessert table. With inspiration and party goods from shop, Pretty Day, “Peace, Love and Motherhood” came to fruition.

I know I am not alone in my love of anything retro. As a child of the 70s (ok late 70s), daisy crowns and bohemian vibes are my jam. So when I saw the pastel and gold boho rainbow napkins offered by Pretty Day, I knew I had found something I could work with. I paired them with gold plates, gold fringe cups and simple florals.

I found the cutest daisy cupcake candies at Michaels. Instead of the traditional rice krispie square, I made them round and added melting chocolate complete with daisy. I also baked mini coconut cupcakes and a carrot cake that was perfect for the boho inspired “Hey Baby” topper. My go to baby shower dessert, mini no-bake cherry cheesecakes, rounded out the dessert options.

I love creating a statement wall for the dessert table. For this one, I put up craft paper and added the boho rainbow plates from the same collection as the napkins. Using paper plates as decor is something I have been doing for years, as it is a cost effective way to add color and texture to a backdrop.

Because it was a funky summer soirée, boho sunnies just seemed like a good addition. How cute are the ones we got from Pretty Day, which we personalized using their tutorial. Amazon also had groovy pink heart shades that each adult got to wear and take home.

It was so great to celebrate a new mama to be. Now the best part after the shower….anticipating the arrival of a sweet new addition.
