For the last couple of years, I have dreamed of doing our family Christmas photos at a tree farm. While we put up an artificial tree year after year because of small space living, I had visions of wanting the kids to frolic amongst the evergreen trees to get into the holiday spirit.
So one late afternoon in November we made our way to Alouette Tree Farm which was about an hour drive from our home. It was an absolutely stunning location and we were lucky to have the perfect weather. We got to take advantage of two beautiful tree lots. While I was worried how the kids would do when the camera came out, I was pleasantly surprised. They truly loved the adventure of the location and just perhaps the hot cocoa and cookies I brought played a part in it.
Like most years, I usually find one of the kids outfits and then work the rest of looks around them. This year was no different when I bought an adorable buffalo plaid and grey dress for my daughter. I love the black and red check that seems to be everywhere this season, so the rest of us joined in rocking white, black, grey and red.
The second part of the shoot was taken just as the sun was going down and I think these shots are priceless. A huge thanks to Laura from Paraphrase Productions for helping me pull these off this year. As I told my kids, photos that last a lifetime are the best present a mother could receive come holiday time.
