A controversial statement probably but I think Valentines Day is my favorite holiday. When my daughter was almost four, I figured she would enjoy having a couple gal pals over to do some crafts and eat yummy treats. Luckily my friend and fellow blogger, Melissa of Petite Littles Everyday, decided to join in with her girls and help put on the fun afternoon gathering.
Since our girls were puppy crazy, thanks in part to a set of particular cartoon pups (think “no job is too big, no pup is too small”), I thought a dog themed pa-wty could be fun. You know I love a good play on words! I trip to Target resulted in some adorable dog items to inspire the look.
It was beyond fun to deck out the dessert table with all the pinks and red hues. It truly is what make the holiday for love one of the best! The table backdrop was very simple to put up as it was created from dollar store plates and banners. I have a dedicated post with the DIY instructions you can see here.
The girls had the choice of several desserts and snacks to choose from. From “dog biscuits” to “puppy chow” to the most adorable sugar cookies made by Shea’s Sweet Shoppe, the spread did not disappoint. Don’t worry…it wasn’t all sweets. We served up ham and cheese croissants before hand.
After enjoying their food and drinks, the little ladies got their arts and crafts on. They painted the cutest wooden dogs and were able to make dog tags/necklaces for their little pups. And of course, what kind of Valentine’s Party would it be without a station to make some cards.
When all the eating and crafting was done, it was time to head home. In addition to their newly adopted dogs, each girl left with a goody bag with dog stickers, pencils and of course, Valentine’s candy. It was such a sweet afternoon that was enjoyed by all. As usual, perhaps most by us moms capturing it and seeing our littlest ladies have a great time together.
