As I mentioned in my recent post 10 Unique Gifts Teachers Actually Want, teachers are one of the groups that really kept things going during the pandemic. Considered essential workers by the government, educators were online and in the classroom not only teaching, but keeping everyone safe. They enforced masking and sanitizing, while also comforting parents and students alike who were scared related to the unknown. Well, now that things are settling and returning back to “normal”, I know a lot of educating professionals are burnt out from not just the school year that passed, but all the hours spent teaching in/through a pandemic. I wanted to acknowledge some of my favorite teachers, so with a few local brands, I organized a fun night out where all they had to do was show up and be spoiled. Also so many teachers were too busy (with the end of school ironically) that I also decided a giveaway for another educator and their bestie had to happen. Read on for all the details of the night and the prize package giveaway.

My sweet friend Sarah from PICYourNIC is also aware of the impact teachers have. As a mom of two and friend to several teachers, Sarah agreed to help me take care of a few educators on a special June night. We decided that the celebrating the Summer Solstice would be the perfect evening to host the a pop up picnic. Well, the weather wasn’t very summer like…typical Vancouver, it was raining and dreary. But that didn’t stop us from having a great time. We ate, we drank, we chatted and enjoyed kid free time (both as moms and teachers). PICYourNIC has various packages which you can see here. “You PIC” is where you bring your own food and drinks. “We PIC” is where the food is provided. For this occasion, Sarah and I did a hybrid. She provided the most delicious nonalcoholic drinks (some absolutely delicious Hoocy Booch) and s’mores with a mini fire from Backcountry Bonfires. I brought the alcohol and food. My favorite gin is Empress 1908 Gin (because hello that color and smooth taste) was paired with tonic and I created DIY charcuterie board for those to enjoy.

As mentioned, before ending the night, I wanted to gift each teacher a special treat bag filled with things picked out for their caring selves. I was so lucky that the local brands I reached out to, also wanted to show teachers the love and donated all the items. Here is what was included:
- You Do You Boo Keychain from Formation Dance Studio
- Complimentary Treatment and Anti-Aging Serum from Formula Fig
- Complimentary Manicure from La Bise Beauty Lounge
- Gold Heart Earrings from Standout Boutique
- Candle and Faux Plant bought from Dollar Tree

So now if you are wondering who won the teacher giveaway Sarah and I ran on Instagram? I have to say I have done a few giveaways in my day and this one had broke all records. I guess people are hungry (literally and figuratively) for an experience like this. Unfortunately only one person can win a PICyourNIC for two and prize packs for them and their BFF. That wonderful educator has the Instagram handle @beautiful_britishcolumbia94. Congrats! I will be in touch with the details shortly.
And of course, you don’t need to be an educator to book a PICyourNIC this summer. Bookings must be 3 days in advance and can be for a range of occasions. From wedding showers to birthday parties to engagements, this pop up picnic company has you covered. Summer dates are booking up fast, so don’t delay! Heck, maybe even surprise that educator in your life with a little gathering, because I am telling you, they may need it, or a hug, or both!
