I love choosing a birthday theme that is general and allows me to bring out my creativity in putting it together. When my son turned eight, I daringly suggested a space party, thinking he may turn it down. Though I did sweetened the deal telling him we could play cosmic bingo, while also having a piñata and cosmic bowling. Surprisingly, he was keen and so the planning began!
Of course, all good parties start with adorable invitations. For as long as I can remember, I have used Paperless Post to send invites out to friends and family when it comes to events. No matter what the theme, their collection of online invitations does not disappoint. Their easy to use app and tracking system make it a dream to navigate. While the lack of ad clutter increases the user experience. Below you will see the invite that paired perfectly with our space party.
Now would you believe this theme came to me when I found the perfect star plates at the dollar store? Around graduation time, they had both silver and gold star plates which I quickly snapped up. Adding a bit of painters tape to the back, the dessert table wall was done cheaper than $3. Astronaut and star sugar cookies paired with planet cake pops made up the perfect display. To drink, kids were treated to our space juice, which was simply blue gatorade served up in black cups with decorative straws.
While treats and ice cream cake are always a party favorite with children, party goers went crazy over the Cosmic Bingo at this celebration. I created a number of player cards and bought bingo daubers from the dollar store for each child. Prizes offered were space themed, from glow sticks to light up balls. We played several rounds because no one wanted to stop playing.
Since the bingo was such a success, I thought I could share the cards I created with you. There are two color options, grey or blue. There are 15 cards total, so selecting the number you need, just press print!
Putting it together, this party quickly became one of my favorites. And I was not alone. My son said it was his best party yet, mind you he says that every year. Love my guy who like me, loves a fun celebration!
