It is hard to have a child around without coming across Thomas the Train. When my son was three years old, he was obsessed with all things Thomas. He had several of the figurines and books and only wanted to watch shows that followed the adventures of Thomas, Percy, Henry, Edward and others. It brought back memories, as growing up, my brother had the same obsession. That Thomas has transcended generations and has had some staying power!
So when I heard there was an event held where you could actually see and ride Thomas, I bought tickets for our family right away. It turned out to be such a special day, as our little train lover was undergoing cancer treatment at the the time. And while, he wasn’t quite 100 percent come event day we still made the trip. Seeing his smile and amazement viewing Thomas up close was priceless. And then when he stepped onto the train and it moved, he had no words.
Turns out the same great event is still going strong! Coming up next month (May 2018) at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park in Squamish, Day Out with Thomas – Big Adventures Tour™ provides the opportunity for children and their families to take a 20 minute ride on Thomas the Tank Engine™ and to meet Sir Topham Hatt™, the Controller of the Railway. Fun for the whole family includes a Thomas & Friends Imagination Station with Thomas-themed activities including stamps, temporary tattoos, hands-on arts and crafts, and a Thomas storytelling and video viewing area. There will also be mini golf, mini rail rides, a bouncy castle, live entertainment and a large Thomas retail area. I can speak from experience that it is a wonderful day trip that the entire family is sure to enjoy.
I am lucky to be giving away a Family of Four pack of tickets for Day Out With Thomas™ May 19-21 and May 26-27 in Squamish. To enter, simply click on the link and enter your email address. There are also ways to gain additional entries on the page.
