When we moved from our small two bedroom apartment downtown to our current suite that still isn’t massive, but does have four good sized rooms, I was thrilled to make the extra room a play space for the kids. I was happy we could have an area that could house their toys and foster their creative sides.
Since monochrome seems to be trending these days and because I love a neutral palette that you can add splashes to color to over time, I decided to go with a black and white theme. There are two walls in the space that I knew I wanted to cover. On the first, I created a gallery wall with prints from Etsy and one I personally had created (see this post to download your free “Be Happy” printable).
On the second wall, I knew I wanted a fun statement piece (hence the panda head) along with a banner. I created the “Always Be Kind” banner out of black paper. The panda was a very reasonable purchase from Target’s Pillowfort collection.
As with my other decorating efforts, getting the accessories is always the best part! Because monochrome is what is on trend now, it was not hard to find pieces that would fit the space. I think my favorite additions were the black and white nesting dolls and the Love Ball.
Once the finishing touches were put on this room, it soon became my favorite place in the house. It is the most used one that is for sure!
